The Summit
2008
Kennesaw State University will host the 6th annual statewide LGBTQ student and organization summit on Saturday, April 19, 2008. The Summit will begin with registration at 9:00am.
The purpose of the Summit is to: (1) Build a support network of high school, college, and university LGBTQ and LGBTQ-supportive students, faculty, allies, and organizations, and (2) Provide panels, workshops, and discussion groups on key LGBTQ issues.
This year we will present the 5th annual Georgia LGBTQ Educator of the Year Award for Middle and High-School educators. The award recognizes outstanding support of LGBTQ students with a plaque and $200 cash prize. The award is sponsored by the Kennesaw State University Safe Space Initiative.
Who should attend? LGBTQ University, College, and High School Students and Allies; University, College, High School and Middle School educators, administrators, staff, parents, and allies interested in gaining a better understanding of issues facing LGBTQ youth and young adults; leaders and members of LGBTQ advocacy groups interested in helping improve educational and life experiences for LGBTQ students and young adults.
